Why I Started The Mixing Bowl

Hi, my name is Alyssa. I fell in love with baking in high school, watching decorators on TV turn flour and sugar into something worth standing back and admiring. It was art — it just happened to be edible. I started recreating those designs at home, and I was hooked. By college I was making cake pops for every family gathering, and the people I love kept telling me the same thing: you should do something with this.

The Mixing Bowl NH is what happened when I finally listened. I'm a wife and a mom to four kids — one teenager and three littles — and I wanted to build something that was mine, something that contributes to my family and fits around the homeschooling life we've chosen instead of pulling me away from it. I bake out of my kitchen in Southern New Hampshire, usually with three small helpers pulled up to the counter to watch every batch.

What I want The Mixing Bowl to be is a place Granite Staters can count on for the sweet part of a moment that matters — a big birthday, a milestone, or an ordinary Tuesday when someone needs to know they're loved. That's why I design and 3D print my own cutters when the shape I need doesn't exist yet, and why I also sell the cutters and tools I design, share the STL files behind them, and print edible images for anyone who doesn't have the equipment themselves. What I'm building toward is a community for everyone — other bakers and the crafty mom alike — where we trade ideas, sources, and hard-won tricks instead of each figuring it out alone. Someday I'd love a bakery space of my own. For now, I'm grateful for every counter covered in sprinkles.
